Jason Storie called last night. He is all settled in his garage apartment that he will most likely be staying in the rest of his time in seminary (free I think). What a great provision by the Lord! He also told me all his money for his Romania trip came in and then some. He told me that his time with Mary during her visit went really well. She enjoyed Storie's friends and fit in well. That's a good sign since she'll be moving in town later this summer. He also said that he has been going to the chiropractor three times a week at $30 a session. Yikes. That's worse than me, but his back has been hurting since our sophomore year at Bryan. Wow. Lord heal his back, please, and provide for his needs. It was good to talk to him again.
Youth group went really well last night. We started with some hang out time with root beer floats. Then we played ultimate Frisbee for about a half hour. Our lesson started off with discussional questions like:
. What are some things you don't like about church or the Church?
. What are some sins that you feel the church doesn't deal with well?
. Should sinners be allowed to come to church?
These questions were to get them thinking about the passage we were about to read, 1 Corinthians 5. In chapter 5 Paul deals with a certain man in the church who's having sexual relations with his step mom. He judges the man for his sin, but the harsher judgment fell upon the Corinthian church for not doing anything about it, and worse, they were being arrogant about it.
So we talked about church discipline, excommunication, and repentance. Overall it went really well. Alison said that it was the best night that we've had yet that she can remember. (I remember her saying something similar last week. So either it's getting better, or she's just making me feel good. What a good wife!)

Tonight is youth group. We will be talking through 1 Corinthians 5. Mostly we'll be talking about excommunication, but we'll be touching on sexual immorality. We'll definitely be coming back to that topic in chapter 6.

Season finale of Gilmore Girls is on tonight which makes Alison happy. I don't want to watch it for a few reasons. But of course they will end with everything hanging making you have to wait till next season to find out what happens with Luke and Lorelai. They're going to do the same thing with Smallville tomorrow night. I can't stand it.

The local church is a great thing. We've been put on the meal plan or whatever it's called. People will be bringing us dinners occasionally since Alison can't cook too much and I'm not that good at it. Praise the Lord for the family of God.
Youth group is tonight and we're having a pretty bad storm; that means there will be no ultimate frisbee. We might have to do some uno or something. We'll be talking more about being stewards but also talking about what it means to act like our spiritual father. Everyone resembles their dad (if they have one present). Paul encourages the Corinthians to act like himself, their spiritual father.

Saturday was another TV day. We did get a lot of filing done eventually thanks to Alison's help. We both hate filing, but once it's done everything is better, and we don't have papers all over the place.
Alison made us a nice breakfast of French toast and sausage (turkey sausage). I'm not a big fan of turkey sausage, but it still smells good. We watched some Saturday morning shows and then I did some reading for youth group. Then we watched Crocodile Dundee II on TV, then we both took a nap.
I made dinner and we watched TV as we ate dinner. I told you it was a TV day. Alison is in her 15th week of pregnancy, yet she is still tired and sick. In addition to that my back has been hurting since December. Yeah I know. I've been going to the chiropractor. I go Tuesday again. I don't know how much longer I can go though. I'm feeling better except for today. I'm just not sure about it all. The doctor hasn't said what's wrong with me or how long the treatments will take. I hopefully can find out more details soon without being rude.
I've started reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. It's been pretty good. Dantes is still in prison but he just met the priest. We'll see if the book is better than the movie.

Alison got her hair cut last night. Well actually she got a trim and some highlights. It looks REALLY good. She looks really good. :-) She finally got home around 7:30 PM and then she cut my hair. We did some cleaning, called home, and then went to bed.

Our youth group is having a guys night at Trent's house tomorrow night. We're going to have a dual Xbox setup playing 8 player Halo. We'll probably do some eating too, but Halo will be the highlight for most of us. Alison is going to have some of her girlfriends over while I'm gone. She's going to have Stephanie Mace and Elaine Davis over. That means we need to clean tonight. :-)
Alison and I had a nice lunch at Olive and Rosemary's today. O and R's is a deli place like a Panera bread with a local touch. We both got the club as always. I love club sandwiches. I remember the first time I had a club in high school. It was at work at the retirement home. They had a really good double-decker club sandwich.

We were out of milk and eggs today so we decided to go out to breakfast at McDonalds. It was nice to spend some time with Alison early in the morning. We've talked about going out to breakfast many times, but now we finally did it.

Monday Night Youth Group
Tonight is Monday Night Youth Group. We will be starting and most likely finishing 1 Corinthians 4. We will be talking about what it means to be a steward.
Last weekend was the epitome of resting. I think Friday night we went to bed early. Then Saturday we slept in a little bit. Then we watched TV, watched TV, then we watched some TV. Alison's been really sick and tired, mostly just tired. We had a good time together.
Sunday Alison was too tired to go to church. I went and saw some of our old friends who must have come in from graduation. Kedric Webster was there; I guess he's done for this year in RTS. Debra Smith and Claire Williams were both there as well. Oh yeah it was Mother's day too.
I wished Alison a happy mother's day and gave her the card I got for her. She liked it. At church many people gave testimonies to their mothers, grandmothers, and wives (mothers of children). I'm sure that was very encouraging to many mothers.

I met with my pastor today. We try to get together about once every other week. We've been studying the book of John lately, but we haven't been meeting regularly so neither of us remembered where we where. We did discuss more on the
ah, we stayed home from bible study last night. I spent about an hour doing dishes now that our hot water heater has been replaced. We watche some of the Gilmore Girl episodes (well Alison watched them while I did some dishes, then I joined her). Then we watched Smallville. Some new things happening on my favorite show.

The higher ups at Bryan are making some big decisions (or supposed to be) about consolidating all IT related stuff under our department. We have not supported the Bryan college website or the library technology, etc., but they are thinking about giving it to us. This could make things really different around here. I'm not really sure what to expect. They keep putting of the decision because no one can agree and none of them want to make a decision. Meanwhile we are waiting for some much needed decisions.
My chiropractor appointments was good. I felt pretty good yesterday afterwards, but my neck did hurt. After leaving I remembered when my back really started hurting. It started hurting shortly before Christmas and then got painful during our car rides to and from PA. I'll have to remember to tell him about that. He did some back cracking, neck cracking, some ultrasonic massage type thing and then some more lower back cracking. He gave me some exercises to do. He also said to put some ice on my back before I got to bed, then take a hot shower when I wake up. He also recommend that I do more walking. One problem is that our hot water heater may be broken. Our land lady told us to turn it off just in case; so I took a shower in her bathroom today. OK, now that is weird. My back is still hurting about the same amount today, but I go back on Friday. We'll see what happens.
Last night Alison just watched TV the whole night. We were both exhausted. She has an excuse; I don't. She's pregnant. We watched Gilmore Girls and the writers are throwing a bunch of curves into the mix probably because we're getting to the end of the season. All of a sudden Luke is changing his ways, and there is promise of more Jessie and Dean moving into the center stage. Unfortunately the writer has seemed to forgot that Luke and Dean are already married. For crying out loud, marriage is for life, not for convenience. Make a show that has people having healthy marriages; I know it's rare, but it doesn't help if all the shows on TV are promoting us to please ourselves first.

I have my first chiropractor appointment today ever at 2:00 PM. I've heard so many stories about chiropractors that I really don't know what to expect. My lower back has been hurting for months, so I'm hoping that they can either fix me, or help me fix myself. We'll see...
I found it. The web interface that sets the settings for the antivirus component must have a bug. I manually edited the configuration file and restarted the service. I don't think we'll be getting any more notices for awhile. I also contacted the Greencomputer people and let them know about it.
We've (Bryan College) been having trouble lately with viruses. We haven't been infected, but the alerts that get sent out seem to be worrying people. I've already turned off the alerts on our end, but there maybe a glitch somewhere. I'll check into it.
Youth group went well last night. We had a semi-long time of personal prayer for our community, church, and for ourselves. I encouraged them to do a prayer walk where they pray as they walk around the church and surrounding area. It seemed to be a good idea; I don't know how much the youth pray, but at least I gave them good opportunity to do so. After the prayer time we played some games while snacking on Doritos and popcorn.

Monday, Monday. Sometimes I wonder why Mondays even exist. It seems like Monday is the day for things to go wrong. It's either that or I just don't like getting out of bed on Monday because I just had the weekend off.
Today I got up early to go to the "Men's Breakfast and Bible Study." We've been going through a book called Becoming a Man of Prayer. This week we were reading and supposed to be praying for our church, our nation, and the world. I didn't get much prayer time in last week. Maybe I can start fresh this week. His mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.
Today at work Dan Evans had his first day as our new Helpdesk Technician. We did a lot of training today, and he learned quickly. Tomorrow we'll do some more training. He had quite a bit of free time today, but that will change for sure.
Youth group is tonight and it's a fourth week. We'll be having some prayer time for the community and playing some games tonight. Maybe I'll blog some more later tonight.

Sunday is the Lord's day. We did our best to get up on time for church despite the rainy weather that always seems to make me tired and slow (no I'm not old...yet). With all the ruckus going on in Rhea County about the commissioners decisions against gays and the upcoming Rhea Gay Day on May 8th, our pastor decided to start a new series on spiritual warfare from Ephesians 6:10-20. Today he did an overview of the passage to get us thinking in the direction of spiritual warfare and how we are engaged. If we do not stand firm then we will become casualties. These events taking place in our community are not merely the perceived religious against the gays, but actually Satan against God. Satan is attacking God by attacking the family, godly sexuality, and God's people the church. We need to be praying and standing firm against the devil and his attacks. Put on the whole armor of God.
