Last night around 11:30 PM I finished reading my first classic novel...I think. (I don't know if The Count of Monte Cristo counts as a classic.) I started reading Great Expectations last summer, and I had put it down for awhile. I didn't realize how close I was to finishing. Here is the last paragraph:
"I took her hand in mine, and we went out of the ruined place, and as the morning mists had risen long ago when I first left the forge, so, the evening mists were rising now, and in all the broad expanse of tranquil light they showed to me, I saw no shadow of another parting from her."
--Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
For the first time yesterday Simon rolled over when we actually saw it. Well actually Alison and the whole youth group saw it, but I missed it. He had rolled over Sunday night in his crib. We didn't know it until Alison heard him crying and got up to check on him. He was turned perpendicular and he had rolled over. It's amazing how the little things excite us.

My boss gave me some good advice on Friday: "Success is on top of a pile of failures. A person without any failures, is a person that never accomplished much." That's good for me to hear.
